If a ball is deemed to possibly be lost outside a penalty area or out of bounds,
proceed under one of the following:
1)Play a provisional ball, proceed to original ball area in question and look for
up to three minutes. If the original ball is out of bounds or not found in the
three-minute time period, then play provisional ball under Rule 27-2.
2) If no provisional ball played:
Determine approximate point where the ball is lost or out of bounds. From
this point to a point two club lengths into the nearest edge of fairway, you
may drop a ball no nearer the hole with a TWO shot penalty. You may NOT
go back to where the ball was played originally.
Ball Unplayable:
If a ball lands in a heavily wooded or native/grass, non-penalty area and is found
Inside the three-minute time frame proceed under one stroke penalty:
1) Drop a ball within two club lengths from point unplayable –no nearer the hole.
2) Go back as far as desired keeping point unplayable in line with pin.
3) Determine outside edge of wooded/grass area and drop your ball within
two club lengths no nearer the hole.
